A woman identified as Fazila, reportedly the wife of a businessman known only as José, was kidnapped in September 2025 at around 7:00 p.m. near the Marracuene Lodge, in the district of Marracuene, Maputo province.
The abduction was carried out by individuals who remain unidentified but are believed to be linked to a kidnapping syndicate. Since the incident, the victim’s whereabouts remain unknown. This kidnapping occurred prior to the abduction of the Luso-Mozambican businessman Francisco Cera.
To date, the Mozambican Police (PRM) has made no public statement regarding the case. Amid official silence, three videos featuring Fazila began circulating on social media. Recorded by the kidnappers to pressure the family into paying a ransom, the footage shows the victim chained by her hands and feet, visibly suffering both physically and emotionally.
In the first video, Fazila appears clothed while being assaulted by the abductors. In the second, she is shown wearing only trousers, her upper body exposed, and is again beaten. The third video depicts her gagged and covered in blood, already in a state of extreme distress.
Throughout the recordings, her cries for help are clearly audible. In tears, she begs her family to rescue her from captivity, revealing the brutality and terror she is enduring. The videos paint a painful picture of a State unable to ensure the safety of its citizens.
